Dan Scoggins
Mellow folk artist from Norwich.
Dan started picking up tunes on the piano at about 7 or 8 years old. When his older brother formed a band he played the piano for a short while but the older boys were not so keen to have a young ‘un in the band and recruited a piano player from the fifth year. Dan quickly learned the drums but was replaced by yet another fifth year boy. Dan learned the guitar and rather fortuitously it appeared that there were no fifth year boys who could play the guitar and he stayed put. The band stayed together for thirteen years under several different names and several different styles. The most notable output was as Scallywag, and the band recorded and played around London before imploding at their most successful. Dan is a singer/songwriter and multi-instrumentalist who performs his own material, popular covers and traditional music. He is a member of the Folk/Bluegrass outfit “Them Harvey Boys” in which he plays Dobro, mandola and guitar. The band is currently working on a new album and Dan is writing new material for his new project.
