Dead Goat Appreciation Society
We play African, Cuban and Haitian rhythms on hand drums and other percussion instruments, and are the performance group of the DGAS women drummers based in New Buckenham (see www.dgasmusic.org.uk for information about joining, workshops and beginners' sessions).
We play subtle and melodic West and North African, Cuban and Haitian rhythms which involve a complex interweaving of polyrhythms incorporating mbira (thumb piano), balaphon (xylophone), rain stick, Ghanian bell, ndundu, clavé, shekere (shaker) and tambourine, as well as djembé, bourgarabou, sabar and dundun (drums).We perform at local community events and have played at a diverse range of events: Hoxne Music festival,Lophams Garden and Craft Fayre, Pining for Pride at the Norwich Arts Centre, Midsummer Miscellany in Old Buckenham Parish Church, Diss Carnival, Strawberry Fayre in Eye, Pride in the Park in Chapelfield Gardens, Norwich, The Heavenly Earth Show at East Tuddenham, Eye Late Night Christmas Shopping.
