Theft of £10,000 by cleaner puts jobs at risk

Saturday 10th April 2010

Terence Reid, who was cleaning the building, stole £10,000 whilst alone on the premises. He was sentenced to a 26 week prison sentence, suspended for 18 months, last Thursday at Norwich Crown Court.

Of the £10,000 less than £3,000 was recovered, Mr Reid claiming that the rest was left on a train.

Norwich Arts Centre is a registered charity whose work is funded by the Arts Council and others, and like similar organisations needs every penny it can get to keep running its services. It would be very sad if this crime led to job losses or a reduction in its programme.

As well as their wonderful programme of visual arts, music and workshops the arts centre is also a fantastic place to go for a lunchtime pint, or to hold a meeting, and we urge you to pop in and enjoy the atmosphere as often as possible to help support what is inarguably a Norwich institution of great importance.
