Nuca exhibition 23rd - 29th June

Thousands to attend free student art showcase.

Tuesday 15th June 2010

Norwich University College of the Arts will again be opening its doors to the public, showing work from students at the end of their final year.

The annual event has become popular with local art lovers, who are drawn to the exhibition alongside members of the wider general public and well-known visiting business brands.  As a result, the occasion marks an exciting opportunity for students to showcase their work at levels that could generate potential employment or sales.

Fine Arts course leader Carl Rowe:

“Many students will sell their work at the event, while others will receive job offers, exhibitions in galleries or commissions.”

The exhibition has previously provoked interest from major London design agencies, front-lining the likes of Barclays, Sainsbury, Stella Artois, Coca-Cola, Disney and Hovis.

“The exhibitions are incredibly important for our students.  Exhibiting in a public context such as this is a test of their professional awareness skills that are taught throughout the course." Mr. Rowe commented.

In the past, the event has displayed eclectic and stimulating work from almost every medium.  This years' showcase will be no exception.  The College runs courses in Fine Art, Textiles, Graphic Design, Illustration and Photography.  The array of work on show will also capture elements of Creative Writing, Graphic Communication, Visual Studies and Surface Design.

College Principal, Professor John Last, said of the event:

“The degree shows...offer a fascinating insight into the creative drives propelling the newest generation of creatives entering the world of work.”

Representing these 'New Creatives' is an assortment of work from the worlds of Digital Media.  Video Game Art & Design, Publishing Design, Film and Animation will all be incorporated into the exhibition.
