Let Us Eat Cake: A Tale Of Two Chaps.

Nosher Crew eat cake, are satisfied. Onlookers report 'some crumbing.'

Tuesday 31st August 2010

There are many important things in this world.  Family, friends, cake.

Indeed, so integral are these things to the modern human, as we dance to the frantic drum of our working world, that to go without them is, quite literally, to become as if nothing.

Being one such modern fellow, I accompanied my erstwhile Nosher colleague early  this afternoon, on a trip to get cake. This is an oft-trod mission, and one that is rarely curtailed.

Although we knew not where we would find our cake, the day was hot, and St. Benedicts' Street is sort of on a slope, so we soon found ourselves at The Norwich Arts Centre.  So far, so good.

The sun was out, the summer was back, and the city was a riot of sound and vision.  I'll not recount too many details concerning our arrival at the Arts Centre, our ordering, sitting, toilet-trips. Already, I realise this may not be the most riveting news story I've ever composed.  So, on to the point.

The Norwich Arts Centre has a slightly new look.  Also, a slightly new menu.  Lovely though this is, it led to some confusion.

Perhaps it was the heat, unexpected after so much rain.  Who can possibly say?  Anyway, I had a salad.  I'm still unsure what came over me, but, damn my eyes, it was tasty and delicious. Sweet tomato yumminess, avocado look-at-me-I-can-eat-grown-up-food-ness, and some kind of drizzle too.  I believe my colleague had a Falaffeffelel.

The whole thing turned out to be entirely beneficial: after such an unprecedented health kick, we felt excused and exonerated in our large amounts of cake.  This balance is good, as we'll be returning soon, I don't doubt.

The Arts Centre has always been a great place for a spot of lunch.  With its new-fangled salads, etc, it deserves a summer visit more than ever.
