Local festival geared for sucess.
Week of local music planned, courtesy of the Hot City Sounds brigade.
Thursday 4th June 2009
The event, described by its organisers as “a celebration of local Norwich/Norfolk music of all persuasions”, attempts to bring together a diverse host of bands and promoters from the area, to coincide with the Norfolk Music Video festival.
Fusion at the Forum, Europe’s largest permanent public access digital screen gallery, has been booked for two weeks, in order to display the very best of locally produced music videos, alongside a wide range of photosets and relevant interviews.
The two events will run hand-in-hand, and will provide an open, county-wide platform for local acts and venues. Kingsley Harris, of Clear Talent Media, is optimistic.
"We want blues and jazz sessions to sit alongside indie, acoustic and metal gigs"
With The Kabeedies and Le Tetsuo making a return on the opening night, Hot City Sounds is set to hit the ground running, and the backup that it is receiving from BBC Voices will ensure a wide spectrum of publicity. Voices, part of the Open Studio organization located in the Forum, will be responsible for radio broadcasts of the event.
“We produce BBC Norfolk Introducing and have been playing the best new music being made in the county since 2007" said Gary Standley, producer at BBC Norfolk Introducing.
"We went to the 2008 gigs and put on a special three-hour radio programme to give those who couldn't get to the gigs a chance to feel part of the festival”, he explained.
"We hope that those who listened last year will be tempted to see the bands this time around."
A BBC Norfolk Introducing gig is planned, featuring top names The Barlights and The Blighters, and will take place in Chapelfield Gardens.
