Waiting For The Gift Of Sound And Vision...
New media festival to highlight local talent and encourage business.
Monday 6th September 2010
The event has been set up by BBC Norfolk Introducing presenter Adrian Cooke. Director of Development for Community Music East, he is also the founder of the well-known Hungry Audio label, home to such acts as Blighters, Sennen and Mia Vigar. Although funding has hitherto been hard to come by, Mr. Cooke believes the festival to be a worthwhile cause.
"We know there are plenty of brilliant Norwich bands, and we have a really strong music scene here," he said.
Besides promoting the wealth of new music to be heard in Norwich, the festival will place a strong emphasis on the encouragement of new and innovative creative business. Over the course of the one-day conference, experts from various international industry brands will make an appearance, discussing such topics as 'Sync or Sink - How to get your music licensed to Film, TV, Ads and Video Games', and 'Digital Weaponry - how to make the most of the web tools available to promote and distribute music'.
Guests from Los Angeles, representatives from South By Southwest, executives from Sony Games and organisers from the Liverpool Sound City organisation will attend. The team behind Norwich Sound & Vision hope this will attract original and inspired creative mind, and empower them to move forward in the industry:
'Norwich Sound & Vision will be a place for companies, individuals, bands/musicians, record labels, filmmakers, writers and anyone with an interest in the music, film and multi media industries to network, reach new markets, forge new partnerships, learn, be inspired and have a fantastic time in one of England's most charming cities.'
Tickets for the one-day conference are £35 (£25 concessions), and can be found here. It takes place Saturday, 18th September at the Norwich Arts Centre.
Although much of the music on show during the Sound & Vision festival is free, any gig tickets can be purchased seperately from the conference. Check www.ueaticketbookings.co.uk for details.
